Recipes: Appetizers & Breads

(Hot) Crab Dip
8oz cream cheese (room temp)
1/2 lb crab
1 clove garlic crushed or garlic salt (I find the garlic clove shocking as Mom never used it)
1/4 cup mayonaise
1 tsp onion juice
1 tsp prepared mustard
1 tsp powdered sugar
sal3/4 t
Heat in pain just before serving (very thick until heated). May add white wine or sherry.
(4 times) - what does that mean?

Crab Imperial
1 lb crabmeat
3 slices toast - crumbled or 1 hamburger rool
1/4 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp salt, 1 tsp parsley (flakes)
1 hard boiled egg, grated
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp lemon juice (optional)
3/4 tsp worchestershire
1/4 cup mayonnaise
3/4 cups milk
1 tsp Old Bay
1/2 stick mazola (ew! this is good - I assume that is margarine but we know butter!)
Mix together & put into ramekins or buttered casserole. Paprika on top - Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or 425 for 20 minutes.
If you double the recipe, double everything. 1 lb serves 6 - 8 people. Good luck!
That last note is such a treat to see, I'm not certain who wrote the recipe, it isn't Janice's handwriting but must have been a good friend to write good luck! We are so lucky to have these.

Cheese Straws

See Kate as my attempt (with 2 recipes to work with, mind you) was a flop.

Kathryn's Sally Lunn

Sorry Mom and Kathryn, this one flopped from too.  I say we stick to Mom rolls and cheese biscuits.

(Janice's) Spoon Bread
this one is in my handwriting which makes me so happy! I used to love writing Mom's recipe cards for her - clearly the start.
3/4 cup corn meal
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp shortening
1 cup milk
2 eggs beaten
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup boiling water
Mix meal, salt and shortening. Pour on water. Add eggs, milk & baking powder. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
